Hip & Knee Surgery

Alastair Davidson has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2005, specialising in knee and hip surgery.  His NHS Consultant post is at Frimley Health Foundation Trust.  He spent most of his post graduate training in London teaching hospitals, training under world renowned surgeons, as well as a Specialist Fellowship year in Sydney.  He did a final Specialist Training year at the hip and knee unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.

After finishing training in 2005, he was a locum Consultant at the RNOH Stanmore Hip and Knee unit and subsequently Imperial College Hospitals, London, before a permanent appointment at Frimley Park Hospital.

He specialises in all aspects of Hip and Knee surgery, including Arthroscopy of the Hip and Knee, Sports injuries, Ligament reconstruction, Osteotomy around the knee, Joint replacement of the Hip and Knee including customised, partial, total and revision joint replacement. He uses a rapid recovery programme and implants and bearing surfaces with a proven track record to increase their longevity.

He has participated in national trials to improve patient treatment as well as publishing and presenting nationally and internationally.  He continues to teach and acts as an educational and clinical supervisor to junior doctors.  He has had the privilege of being a British Orthopaedic Association travelling Fellow and is currently a BOA champion. He is a member of the General Medical Council, Royal College of Surgeons of England and British Orthopaedic Association.

He is very happily married with two children and enjoys his sports such as rugby, golf, skiing, fencing, sailing and travel.
