Fortius International Sports Injury Conference
12th November 2015Polish Orthopaedic and Trauma Society, Kalisz, Poland
3rd February 2016International Society for Hip Arthroscopy
10 December 2015
Seb Sturridge attended this meeting in Cambridge in September. The Society was formed in May 2008 by some of the pioneers of arthroscopic hip surgery. The programme brought together an international faculty of surgeons and physiotherapists who have a specialist interest. The meeting was an opportunity to share ideas and techniques to improve our management of young adult hip pathology.
There were presentations on stem cell therapy, hip instability, and the management of the earliest cartilage injuries. There is increasing interest in the posterior compartment of the hip and extra-articular surgery such as sciatic nerve decompression. There were a number of technology companies demonstrating the latest software to help us better appreciate an individual’s hip movement and map areas of maximal impingement, to better guide surgical decompression.
