Joint Reaction is proud that Mr Reza Mansouri and Mr Zu Nawaz, Consultant Orthopaedic Hip and Knee Surgeons, were recently invited to attend the 2026 Arthrex Orthopedic Technology and Innovation Forum (OTIF) in Munich, Germany.
They were selected as part of a small group of leading UK orthopaedic knee specialists with extensive experience in sports knee injuries and complex soft tissue knee surgery. The forum brought together experts from around the world to discuss the latest advances in knee surgery and rehabilitation.
Held over two days, OTIF 2026 provided a specialist environment for:
“Scientific exchange, innovation, and hands-on surgical education for shoulder, elbow, trauma, and knee … With around 400 participants per day, a comprehensive program of expert-led sessions, live and re-live surgeries, and two immersive ArthroLab™ training experiences, the forum once again highlighted the strength of collaborative learning in sports medicine.” (1)
Advances in modern ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction
The forum included two key focuses:
- The development of modern ACL reconstruction techniques designed to support faster rehabilitation, improve long-term knee stability, and help patients return more safely to sport and everyday activities.
- Treatment options for recurrent kneecap instability, with discussions centred on improving surgical outcomes while reducing the risks associated with surgery.

Both consultants also attended the outstanding ESSKA meeting in Prague, as Mr Nawaz explains:
“This meeting allowed us to collaborate with notable European surgeons discussing advancements in surgical techniques for young adults with sports knee injuries, mal-alignment and patellofemoral issues. It will hopefully lead to further collaborations in the future, and us becoming accredited Surgical trainers for future and other European surgeons.”
