The British Hip Society held their annual meeting in Norwich in March 2016, Jonathan Hull and Seb Sturridge attended the 3 day meeting
The Vanguard XP is a new type of knee replacement that leaves the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments intact. It aims to give better function of the knee replacement because of improved biomechanics and proprioception. Currently there are only 6 units in the UK where this new prosthesis is available and it is being done by Hugh Chissell at Joint Reaction and also at Frimley Park Hospital.
Jonathan Hull and Hugh Chissell were invited to present papers at the Polish Orthopaedic and Trauma Society in Kalisz, Poland in September, sharing the podium with the rather better known Joseph Schatzker from Toronto.
Seb Sturridge attended this meeting in Cambridge in September. The Society was formed in May 2008 by some of the pioneers of arthroscopic hip surgery.
