Jerry Pike was born in Ealing, London and studied medicine at Southampton University Medical School – graduating in 1984. He carried out post graduate surgical training in Wessex region attaining FRCS (England). He then joined the South West Thames Orthopaedic Training programme, completing his specialist training and gaining his FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) in 1995.
In 1996 he was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with a sub specialty of Upper limb. He continues to have both elective and emergency NHS practices, with additional private practice at Parkside Suite Frimley Park Hospital and Spire Clare Park Hospital, Farnham.
His special interests are Shoulder Arthroscopy, Rotator Cuff Surgery, Shoulder instability and replacements – though shoulder Sports Injuries, including Trauma and Fracture are also a significant part of his practice. He is involved with the treatment of climbers, elite athletes, and both professional cyclists and motorcyclists providing elite protocols of treatment where appropriate, and giving specialist advice to team managers and sports coaches.
Mr Pike is engaged with the training of junior doctors and orthopaedic surgeons in training, acts as an examiner for MSc in Orthopaedics and regularly interviews for Core & Higher Surgical Training appointments.
In his spare time Mr Pike is an active climber, his other interests are cycling and motorsport and he has held race licences in both.
